UNC Health Blue Ridge Designated an ACR Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center

CBIC Gold sealUNC Health Blue Ridge has been designated a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center by the American College of Radiology® (ACR). This prestigious recognition is awarded to breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that UNC Health Blue Ridge has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

“We’re proud to have earned this designation,” said Elisabeth Campbell-Wright, Executive Director. “Our team has worked tirelessly to meet these rigorous standards.”

Special Recognition: Celebrating Excellence and Teamwork

"This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit of our outstanding team members," Campbell-Wright said. She extended gratitude to

  • Angie Murphy, Mammography Coordinator & Navigator
"For leading the mammography program with compassion and excellence, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care," Campbell-Wright said.
  • Josh Cook, Radiology Manager
For his leadership in maintaining quality and safety across all imaging services, and for fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Amber Caldwell, Former Ultrasound Lead Tech
For her pivotal role in advancing our ultrasound program and supporting accreditation efforts.
  • Dr. Grady Shue and the UNC Health Blue Ridge Radiologist Team
For their clinical expertise, commitment to peer-review standards, and dedication to patient-centered imaging.

"Their tireless work and commitment to excellence were critical in achieving this prestigious designation," Campbell-Wright said. "We celebrate their contributions and thank every member of our breast imaging team for making UNC Health Blue Ridge a leader in comprehensive breast care."
