The UNC Health Blue Ridge Nurse Residency Program (NGRP) is a yearlong transition-to-practice program designed to help new graduate nurses successfully move from the classroom to professional nursing practice. Through mentorship, education, and hands-on clinical experience, Nurse Residents build the confidence, competence, and leadership skills needed to thrive in today’s healthcare environment.
At UNC Health Blue Ridge, you are never expected to navigate this transition alone. Our Nursing Department provides support at every level, creating meaningful relationships with experienced nurses, educators, and leaders who are committed to your success. The residency program is integrated into your orientation experience, allowing you to develop clinical expertise while receiving ongoing guidance and encouragement.
What You Can Expect
As a Nurse Resident, you will participate in monthly learning sessions focused on topics that are relevant across all nursing specialties. These sessions provide opportunities to collaborate with nurse leaders, educators, and fellow residents while strengthening both clinical and professional skills.
